Privacy Policy for visitors to the web site
This statement describes the policy adopted by this site with regard to the treatment of the personal data of users/visitors.
This statement is drafted in accordance with Art. 13 of Italian Legislative Decree no. 196/03 – the Personal Data Protection Code (hereinafter referred to, for the sake of brevity, as the “Privacy Code”) – for all those who access the institutional web site of Gruppo Editoriale L’Espresso SpA, at www.gruppoespresso.it.
The www.gruppoespresso.it web site is the property of, and is managed by, Gruppo Editoriale L’Espresso SpA. Gruppo Editoriale L’Espresso SpA guarantees compliance with the regulations contained in the Privacy Code and with the norms established by the Code of Ethics adopted by the group.
Users/visitors are required to read this Privacy Policy carefully before submitting any form of personal information and/or filling in any electronic form on the site.
The type of data processed and the purpose of processing
1) Site usage information During normal use, the IT systems and software procedures used for this site require some personal data which are then implicitly transmitted when using Internet communication protocols.
By association and processing with data held by third parties, said information may by its very nature make it possible to identify the user/visitor (e.g. IP address, domain names of the computers used by the users/visitors to the site, etc.).
These data are used only for purposes of a statistical nature (and are thus anonymous) and to ensure the correct operation of the site. They are deleted immediately after processing. Data concerning Web contacts are not kept for more than seven days, except in the case of investigations concerning computer crimes to the detriment of the site. No data obtained through the web service will be communicated or circulated.
2) Data provided voluntarily by users/visitors
Should the user/visitor submit their own personal data when on this site, in order to access certain services or to make requests by e-mail, Gruppo Editoriale L’Espresso SpA will acquire the sender’s address and/or other personal data. These data will be used solely for the purpose of responding to the request or for providing the service requested.
Personal data provided by users/visitors will be made available to third parties only in such cases as may be necessary for fulfilling the requests made by the users/visitors.
3) Cookies
Cookies are not used for communicating information of a personal nature, nor is any use made of any form of permanent cookies, or of any other form of system for tracing users.
The use of session cookies (which are not permanently recorded on the user’s computer, and which are deleted when the browser is closed) is strictly limited to the transfer of session identification data (consisting of random numbers generated by the server) which are required for ensuring safe and efficient navigation through the site.
The session cookies used on this site do not allow the acquisition of personal data that might identify the user and they make it possible to avoid the use of other IT systems that may potentially jeopardise the user’s privacy while navigating the site.
Processing methods
Data are processed by automated systems (e.g. with the use of electronic supports and procedures) and/or manually (e.g. on paper) only for the time strictly necessary for achieving the purpose for which such data are collected and, in any case, in full compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
Submission of optional data
Apart from the browsing data referred to above, users/visitors are also free to provide their own personal data. Should such data not be provided, the only effect will be that it may be impossible to satisfy the user’s request.
Data controller, data supervisor, and categories of persons in charge of processing
The data controller is Gruppo Editoriale L’Espresso SpA, with registered offices in Via Cristoforo Colombo n. 149, Rome, Italy. An updated list of data supervisors can be consulted at the aforementioned registered offices.
Within the company, data concerning users/visitors will be processed by employees who work as “designated staff” in compliance with the instructions and directions given by the “data supervisors”.
Your rights
Interested parties to whom the personal data refer have the right to be informed at any time as to whether or not such data exists and they have the right to know its content and source, verify its exactness and request that it be completed, updated, or corrected (as per Art. 7 of Italian Legislative Decree no.196/03). Pursuant to said article, parties concerned have the right to request the deletion, conversion into anonymous form, or blocking of any data processed in breach of the law, as well as to object to the processing of their personal data, for valid reasons.
