L'Espresso on iPad

Starting today L’Espresso offers its readers an “iPad edition,” i.e. the possibility of reading the entire weekly magazine available at newsstands on the tablet PC by Apple as well. As was true of Repubblica, L’Espresso is beginning with a promotional trial period during which the reading will be completely free of charge, then switching over in a subsequent phase to different subscription systems.

Surfing L’Espresso on iPad has been designed to be particularly user friendly: on the lower part of the screen all the pages can be leafed through, and they can be enlarged by touching them. The double pages appear by default for horizontal reading, and single ones for vertical reading. Obviously, with a “pinch” (the movement of the fingers that all iPhone and iPad users are used to performing) one can zoom in on the pages and enlarge them. The articles can also be read in a “text only” version, divided into columns with horizontal navigation. After the splash down of L’Espresso on the Apple tablet PC, the complete reading of the paper weekly will be enriched by additional contents: above all photo galleries, audio and video, but also links with the databases, reports in the archives and current affairs updates of our “traditional” Internet site.
